公事公办
So annoyed that I'm actually blogging from work. Respect, age, rank hierarchy... Many people can't seem to grasp the concept of abiding by official principles when dealing with official businesses.
Scenario 1
Me (22 years young, Fashion Marketing Executive)
Lady (36 years old, average Company Officer)
Yes, she's older than me. That is not something I can easily disregard and just cast away completely during the entire working time. However while at work, isn't rank hierarchy a more important factor than age? The fact that I'm higher above despite being your junior just goes to show the contrasting relationship between our age and abilities. Why is it that just because you're older than me, you get to boss me around? Excuse me, I deserve respect and therefore see no reason as to why I should be tolerating your poor attitude on top of poor work performance. By rank, I am your boss. I don't care if you have nephews or nieces around my age it doesn't matter, you are not supposed to treat me like one of them wtf you have no rights to vent your nonsense unhappiness on me.
Fact: You are more senior in terms of age.
Doesn't matter.
Fact: I am above you in pay and organisational hierarchy.
I am the boss of you.
Scenario 2
Me (22 years old, Fashion Marketing Executive)
Girl (18 years young, Trainee/ Intern)
I know, you're still in poly and my last education was poly. The memory is still fresh and when you need someone to reminisce with, I am most suitable. However, that does not make me your friend. During work, you do not shout my name from across the floor, you should be coming up to my office door and knocking quietly. You do not walk to my side of the desk to lean over and look at my computer screen, you should be sitting across me and address formally whatever issues you have before I send you out of my office.
Scenario 3
Me (22 years old, Fashion Marketing Executive)
Aunt (44 years old, Director of Marketing)
Boundaries should be established clearly. No nicknames, pet names, short-forms whatsoever. My name is Hayati, not Haya, not Yati, it's Hayati. I get pissed off too when my Aunt calls me Yati by slip of tongue because then it'll seem like everyone else is permitted to do so and I know everyone thinks:
"Oh since Director calls her Yati, so can I."
When it should be:
"Director calls her Yati because she can."
Ok, slight complication here because it's not only company positions that come into play, but also relationship. I do correct her sometimes and other times I let her off simply because I'm too lazy to bother. She is allowed because while being a Director, she is also my Aunt, which thereby makes her above me in both company hierarchy and family tree. Blood relations aside, If you're as close to me as Ah Wei is, I think it's only common knowledge that I hate being called "Yati" the most.
So guys, take extremely careful note please. I am very sensitive these days I will fire anyone once I feel like it and yall know I can, not because of who I am but because of whose niece I am.
