I HEART HK 25-30/08/13
I've been putting off this post for the longest time ever simply out of laziness to sync the photos from my phone but at last, here it is! My first trip overseas without adult supervision (booya that makes me sound so rebellious but I'm actually of a considerably mature age already ok) and I wouldn't say it was my first official plane ride cause it wasn't. Rather, it was my second plane ride but the one of official remembrance cause my first one was when i was 4 years old and I really can't remember much from back then.
Anyway, it was an extremely refreshing trip filled with the most genuine of fun and laughter, even more so cause it marked the end of my intern(shit)ship! Deep down, I was really happy and excited to be able to spend my first all-teens overseas trip with my wonderful teamies. Depite going with just Alicia, Vanessa and Jiaying rather than our full team of 8, they really made it an extremely fun-filled and memorable experience for me! For me, I believe that all 8 of us teamies who make up our badminton girls batch of 1994 were all different but equally fun in our own unique ways and that our days at Nan Hua, not just mine alone, wouldn't have been the same without either one. Though I was initially in doubt and disappointed that we couldn't have more of them join us on this trip, the 3 of them really made up for the absentees!
I will never forget how we could just travel via the MTR or walk and shop about all on our own without any major crisis of us getting lost (though Alik and I had a minor separation from Jia and Van heh) and wasting a lot of time being clueless. Of course, this was really thanks to Jia and Van for their mature expertise of leading little kids like Alik and I around haha! Not to forget, their nightly discussion in planning the following day's agenda. Also surprisingly, we came across all of our meal places by chance, wherever our feet took us! AND NONE OF OUR MEAL PLACES FAILED US. NOT THE FOOD, AND CERTAINLY NOT THE PRICING.
I wasn't sure whether it was just me or not but on our last night in HK in our wonderful Club Deluxe room @ Royal Plaza Hotel, while we were playing Tai-ti and watching White Chicks on tv (all thanks to Van's hard-drive), I recall thinking to myself "Is it me or are we laughing especially more on this last night?" and at that time I just wished that our time together could've been longer, and that how nice the past few days have been. On our first day in HK, we missed our parents and our homes. On our first day back in SG, we missed one another: The mornings together, the meals and shopping together, all the music, Baileys, fun and laughter. Unnnnforgettable and I still do miss it!
The 3 of them really made it an experience not to forget and one to definitely go through with again and I am just extremely thankful towards fate's placement of me in Nan Hua, and so allowing me to meet this group of wonderful girls! After which, I am extremely thankful to them for making my days in Nan Hua and life after Nan Hua so enriching and fun-filled.
We started out as friends, bonded as team mates, grew as close as sisters, and laughed as unglam as boys. No friendship goes through a smooth sailing journey, and we too have had our fair shares of tiffs and anger. But it is through all these tests that our friendship comes out stronger. And other than my parents and my better-half, these people are the ones whom I too, want to grow old with.
Lastly, some 'kachik' to end off!
